WE TURNED THE ART WORLDPYRAMID SCHEME UPSIDE-DOWNTO SEE WHAT WOULD FALL OUT
High Energy Constructs, Los Angeles, presents CHAIN LETTER an unprecedented and unparalleled group exhibition featuring over 200 contemporary works of art.
Responding to a chain email (read: LETTER), nearly two hundred artists from Southern California, trekked to Los Angeles’ Chinatown on Sunday, August 20, to participate in a ten hour installation of their work, along with artworks by others who mailed in work from other parts of the country. In keeping with a low-tech, word of mouth spirit, the great diversity found among the works exhibited, is complemented by the curatorial aim to evoke a wide array of contrasts and echoes from this inclusive end of summer extravaganza.
You are invited to view this impromptu and robust survey of artworks from Los Angeles and beyond, for a limited time only. The exhibition will close on August 31, 2006, with an all-day deinstallation and special performance, entitled “Welcome Matt” by BS International, from 5-9pm, and a closing reception from 6-9pm.
